On November 27 and 28, 2025, the “360° Sustainability: Towards Net-Zero Carbon Value Chains” workshops convened in Portugal leading experts, companies, and organisations to explore best practices, collaborative models, and financing strategies for building sustainable, carbon-neutral value chains.

The first day, focused on Best Practices and Value Chains, began with an opening address by Benvinda Catarino (AIP), followed by contextual remarks from Anita Manuel (AIP) and Claude Mercieca (Energy and Water Agency – EWA), underscoring the project’s significance within the business ecosystem.
Afternoon sessions featured diverse perspectives on sustainability and operational efficiency, including methodologies for carbon footprint assessment and an introduction to the REEValue Platform by Conor Molloy (Authentic Energy Management Service).
Further insights on collaborative approaches and exemplary practices in sustainable value chains were provided by Ivan Ferretti (University of Brescia) and Sara Bernardino (Sammontana).
Portuguese companies and organisations such as Herdade da Figueirinha, Salsicharia da Gardunha, Lda., and APLOG – Portuguese Logistics Association, showcased their experiences and best practices in developing sustainable value chains. The day concluded with a Debate Forum, moderated by Mario Xuereb (Malta Business Bureau), which focused on the key challenges faced by local enterprises and opportunities for advancement.

The second day was dedicated to Value Chain and Financing Workshops, beginning with a recap of the previous day by Mario Xuereb. Sessions on value chains addressed topics such as ESG360 models, the integration of artificial intelligence into carbon neutrality initiatives and ESG reporting (Quo Vadis Web 3), and innovative business models in the circular economy (bio4plas).
The Financing session highlighted the PT2030 Incentive System for Climate and Energy Transition (Compete 2030) and outlined funding opportunities for sustainability, decarbonisation, and the circular economy (Banco de Fomento). The event concluded with a final Debate Forum, once again moderated by Mario Xuereb and closing remarks by António Casimiro, highlighting the role of AIP and its support to the Portuguese business sector.
These workshops offered a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and practical insights, fostering meaningful dialogue among stakeholders, and reinforcing the critical importance of collaboration across value chains in the pursuit of sustainability and carbon neutrality.
